about

This was the day I decided to get my meds upped.

But seriously I was reminded of a family friend of ours in Oklahoma who was randomly and viciously attacked leaving a bar by a deranged person escaped from a nearby Institution. My Father's Rotary buddy, a show salesman at Dillard's back when that was a good job, was struck multiple times square on the head. He very nearly dies, but eventually recovered. after many months. He was however awfully disfigured and quite depressed about it. I remember my Dad would go to Dillard's and buy shoes, insisting that man in the dark glasses wait on him. We had him over for shabbes dinner more than once. But what struck me was how horrified people were when they saw him. It was brutal, even old friends didn't come around any more. It was a great lesson for me. About my Dad for one. But also about modern society.

lyrics

Ball peen or claw hammer
In the glove box of my truck
Ball peen or clawhammer
Might just be your bad luck
Ball peen claw hammer
Ostensibly a tool
Ball peen or claw hammer
Gonna lay low some fool

Well you’ve broken the bonds that we trusted
and the gears of love have gone rusted
and my soul lies broken and busted
but these hammers gonna pound to dusted

Ball peen or claw hammer
From the hardware store
Ball peen or clawhammer
Send you to Evermore
Ball peen claw hammer
Gonna go knock, knock
Ball peen or claw hammer
Gonna clean some clocks

You might have done it before
Other hearts you’ve left on the floor
But that’ll never happen no more
These hammers gonna settle the score
